ABOUT YVONNE
Yvonne Champion founded Champion Counseling on a simple belief: better relationships begin with a braver conversation.
For more than 30 years, she has helped individuals and couples understand the patterns that shape their relationships and create lasting change. Her work is grounded in the idea that meaningful transformation doesn't come from quick fixes—it begins with honest, courageous conversations.
Yvonne's primary passion is working with couples. She helps partners rebuild trust after infidelity, strengthen emotional and sexual intimacy, improve communication, and navigate important relationship decisions with greater clarity and connection.
As Founder and Clinical Director, Yvonne leads a collaborative team of clinicians who share her commitment to thoughtful, relationship-centered care. Together, they create a practice where clients feel seen, understood, and supported as they move toward healthier, more fulfilling lives.

A NOTE FROM YVONNE
For more than three decades, I've had the privilege of sitting with people during some of the most vulnerable and transformative moments of their lives. Whether someone walks into my office feeling disconnected from their partner, uncertain about the future of their relationship, or simply wanting to understand themselves more deeply, my goal is always the same—to create a space where honest conversation can lead to meaningful change.
I founded Champion Counseling because I believe therapy is about more than solving problems. It's about understanding the patterns that shape our relationships, discovering new ways of connecting, and creating lives that feel more authentic and fulfilling.
Throughout my career, I've worked with individuals, couples, groups, healthcare professionals, and organizations navigating change, conflict, grief, trauma, and growth. While my clinical interests are broad, my greatest passion has always been relationship therapy.
I specialize in helping couples strengthen communication, repair trust after infidelity, deepen emotional and sexual intimacy, navigate discernment around separation or divorce, and explore the unique dynamics of consensual non-monogamy and polyamorous relationships. I also provide Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) integration as part of a comprehensive therapeutic approach.
My work has been shaped by advanced training in Imago Relationship Therapy, group psychotherapy, and psychodynamic principles, but my greatest teachers have always been the people I've worked alongside for more than 30 years. Every client brings a unique story, and I believe therapy should honor that individuality rather than rely on one-size-fits-all solutions.
Today, in addition to my clinical work, I serve as Clinical Director of Champion Counseling, mentoring our clinicians and fostering a culture of collaboration, consultation, and lifelong learning. I believe that excellent therapy grows from curiosity, humility, and a genuine commitment to understanding people.
Outside the therapy room, I'm passionate about advancing the profession through leadership, education, and consultation. I currently serve as President of the Houston Psychoanalytic Society and have previously served as President of Imago Houston. I also enjoy mentoring therapists who want to deepen their work with couples and groups.
Whether we're meeting for the first time or continuing work together over time, I hope you'll find Champion Counseling to be a place where difficult conversations become opportunities for deeper connection, healing, and lasting change.
