ABOUT JEANNE
Some careers shape a field. Across more than four decades in practice, Jeanne Pasternak has helped define what excellence in group psychotherapy looks like, and she now brings that depth to the clinicians of Champion Counseling.
A psychotherapist, educator, and leader, Jeanne has spent her career helping individuals, couples, families, and groups reach deeper understanding, stronger connection, and lasting growth. Since entering private practice in 1979, she has specialized in psychodynamic psychotherapy, relationship work, family therapy, and group psychotherapy, and her clinical judgment has made her a trusted mentor and consultant to therapists across the United States and internationally.
Jeanne earned her Master of Science in Social Work from the University of Wisconsin–Madison in 1975 before relocating to Houston, where she built her practice and became a leading voice in the city’s psychotherapy community. A Certified Group Psychotherapist and an active member of the American Group Psychotherapy Association since 1977, she has served on the AGPA Board of Directors and Executive Committee.
Her influence reaches the standards of the profession itself. Jeanne was instrumental in establishing the International Board for Certification of Group Psychotherapists, the body responsible for setting national standards for education, training, and certification, and she served as Chair of its Board from 2000 to 2006. She has also served as President of the Houston Group Psychotherapy Society.
At Champion Counseling, Jeanne serves as clinical consultant and professional mentor to Yvonne Champion and the clinical team, offering ongoing consultation, guidance, and support. Her insight and her commitment to the craft continue to enrich the practice and, through it, the care our clients receive.
